Experience Serenity and Scrumptious Food at Sea House in Kochi Prefecture (Kochi, Japan)

During my recent road trip around Shikoku Island, I stumbled upon a hidden gem: Sea House in Kochi Prefecture. Having seen captivating pictures of this restaurant on Instagram, I was eager to experience it firsthand. Luckily, the timing aligned perfectly, and we decided to make it our late lunch destination.

Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the restaurant's unique architecture. It's an Italian-themed establishment, offering delectable pasta and pizza dishes. What sets Sea House apart, however, is its stunning location overlooking the ocean. We opted for the second floor, and the view was simply breathtaking. Being able to dine while gazing out at the ocean below added an extra layer of tranquility to the experience.

Visiting on a Tuesday around 4pm proved to be a wise decision, as we had the entire place to ourselves. The serene atmosphere allowed us to fully appreciate the beauty of our surroundings. One thing to note is that the restroom is located on the first floor, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.

As for the food, it exceeded our expectations. Each dish was meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. Whether you're a fan of seafood or Italian cuisine, Sea House has something for everyone.

In conclusion, Sea House in Kochi Prefecture is a must-visit destination for those seeking a blend of stunning views and mouthwatering cuisine. Whether you're a local or a traveler passing through the area, I highly recommend adding this hidden gem to your itinerary.

Exploring the Charm of Dogo Onsen in Ehime Prefecture (Ehime, Japan)

I recently had the opportunity to visit Dogo Onsen in Ehime Prefecture, and it was a long-awaited experience for me. Known for its rich history and traditional appeal, Dogo Onsen has been on my bucket list for quite some time. What surprised me the most is that despite its traditional nature, Dogo Onsen is welcoming to people with tattoos, which is not always the case in Japan.

Upon arrival at the main building, I was greeted with a modest entry fee of 460 yen per adult. One thing to note is that they don't provide towels or body soaps unless you purchase them separately, so it's wise to bring your own. However, I couldn't resist buying the Dogo Onsen logo soap for just 50 yen—it makes for a delightful souvenir.

Despite ongoing renovations, the onsen itself didn't disappoint. The water temperature was comfortably hot, offering a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. The fact that I couldn't explore the entire building due to renovations only adds to my anticipation of returning in the future.

Around the Dogo Onsen area, there are plenty of shops to explore. I couldn't resist trying some pudding from Dogo Pudding, which turned out to be a delicious treat.

Overall, my first experience at Dogo Onsen was nothing short of delightful. It's a place that truly lives up to its reputation, blending tradition with modern convenience in a way that appeals to visitors of all backgrounds. I can't wait to return and fully immerse myself in everything this charming onsen town has to offer.

A Dream Come True: Exploring Monet's Garden in Kochi, Japan

I recently had the opportunity to visit Monet's Garden in Kochi, Japan, fulfilling a long-standing dream of mine. While the experience was truly enchanting, navigating the mountainous roads to get there might be challenging for inexperienced drivers. Nonetheless, the journey was undoubtedly worth it.

The entrance fee is ¥1000 per person, and it's essential to bring cash as credit cards are not accepted. Upon request, they provide English pamphlets to ensure all visitors can fully appreciate the beauty of the gardens. Divided into three sections, each inspired by different artworks of Monet, including the iconic water lily pond, the gardens offer a serene and captivating atmosphere. During my visit in mid-April, not all the flowers were in full bloom, yet the scenery remained breathtaking.

Apart from the gardens, there is a charming gift shop offering a variety of Monet-themed merchandise. Additionally, there is a café and restaurant on-site, although I didn't dine there personally. However, the staff at the café were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing insights about the garden and Monet's artworks.

While I would love to revisit Monet's Garden in a different season to witness its ever-changing beauty, I must admit that the challenging drive has given me pause. Thus, I plan to return in the future, albeit not immediately. Nonetheless, Monet's Garden left an indelible impression on me, and I look forward to experiencing its magic again soon.

Exploring the Subterranean Wonders: Oya Museum in Tochigi, Japan

During my recent trip to Tochigi, Japan, I had the opportunity to visit the fascinating Oya Museum. The previous day, while searching for activities in the area, I stumbled upon this museum on Google Maps and was immediately intrigued. The museum showcases a cave carved by humans for the extraction of Oya stones, a unique and captivating experience.

Upon arrival, I learned that the entrance fee is 800 yen per adult, and payment is accepted in cash only. The museum consists of a small exhibition area, as well as access to the actual underground space where the Oya stones were extracted. The underground space is incredibly spacious, far exceeding my initial expectations. While only parts of it are open to the public, it was evident that there is much more to explore.

The cool temperature inside the cave makes it a refreshing escape, particularly during the hot summer months. I found that about an hour was sufficient to thoroughly explore the museum and its underground caverns. The parking lot is quite sizable and is conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from the museum entrance. Adjacent to the museum, there is a charming restaurant offering delicious meals and souvenirs for visitors to enjoy.

Interestingly, the cave is not only a museum but also serves as a versatile venue for movies, concerts, and exhibitions. Its unique atmosphere and spacious layout make it an ideal location for various events, adding to its allure as a must-visit destination in Tochigi.

In conclusion, the Oya Museum offers visitors a captivating journey into the subterranean world of Oya stones. With its expansive underground spaces, refreshing ambiance, and diverse offerings, it is an experience not to be missed for anyone visiting the Tochigi area.
